Rooms

Of our 30 individual suites, 13 are positioned on the beach and the remaining 17 have been built on the hillside to maximise views and privacy.  All suites face the sea and the views range from tropical gardens and the white-sand beach to spectacular panoramas of the bay, mangroves and distant harbour.

The suites are constructed from purpleheart, greenheart and other woods from sustainably managed forests in Guyana.

The décor is one of natural luxury – pristine white linens, ivory cushions and creamy white walls soften the rich hues of the wooden floor and furniture.  All rooms have outdoor showers and slatted louvre windows.

We provide you with pure and natural Aromatherapy Associates bathing and skincare products.  All rooms have an iPod docking station or a smartphone USB connection, flat screen TV, DVD player, WiFi, ceiling fans and air-conditioning.

Hillside Pool Suites
The views from the Hillside Pool Suites are stunning; wide panoramas of the Caribbean Sea and lush landscape that surrounds the hotel. The dense foliage and flowering climbers around each suite shield the private sundeck and plunge pool, proving optimal privacy for guests. Each hillside suite has a spacious, wrap-around covered deck, complete with sun-loungers, double day bed, sofa, small dining table and plantation chairs. The Hillside Suites are built to a standard size and carefully positioned on the hill behind the beach to maximise the view and privacy of its occupants. The Hillside Suites are those at the very top with the most magnificent views and seclusion.

Beachfront Suites
The Beachfront Suites stand right on the soft white sand of Hermitage Bay itself, with unobstructed views of the Caribbean Sea. Each room has a spacious, split-level, open-plan living and sleeping area, ensuite bathroom, outdoor shower and covered sun-deck with a small dining area, double day bed and plantation chairs. The rooms are just a few steps from the pool, lounge and restaurant.

Garden Suites
The Garden Suites are identical to the Beachfront Suites in every way but are situated one row back from the beach.  They do still have wonderful sea views between the Beachfront Suites.

Overview

The Hermitage Bay Hotel is situated in a sheltered cove, fronted by a superb 400 yard white, sandy beach. Its location provides guests with everything they could wish for in a Caribbean holiday and the hotel’s philosophy of “easy living” further enhances the experience.

The beach is a focal point for relaxation and activity. Relaxing is easy on one of the hotel’s loungers and there are plenty of activities to get you involved including swimming in the reef- protected waters of the Caribbean, windsurfing, kayaking,  snorkelling and Hobie-cat sailing. For guests who are unfamiliar with any of these, basic tuition is provided.

At one edge of the beach is the hotel’s lounge. This is an open air structure which offers a place of refuge from the sun and is the perfect place to sit down and relax with friends or read a holiday novel. The views of the beach and infinity pool are another reason why the lounge is a popular venue.

Whilst it would be possible to spend a whole holiday without leaving the resort, there are numerous excursions on offer to Antigua and the other nearby islands. Deep-sea fishing and snorkelling trips to Cade’s Reef are popular activities which the hotel staff will be happy to arrange.

The Hermitage Bay Hotel is so laid-back that guests might not feel the need for a spa treatment. However, the hotel’s Garden Spa has a range of treatments based on the “Chakra” idea and anyone in need of a little pampering might enjoy a visit. At seven thirty each morning there is a dawn meditation at the spa and Pilates sessions are also available.

Caribbean weddings are becoming very popular and the scenery and climate experienced at Hermitage Bay make it an ideal location to be wed. Unlike some resorts, this one allows only one wedding per week, giving the hotel staff more time to devote to each one. Wedding packages are available which cover every detail of the big day, including accommodation.

Dining

As with everything at Hermitage Bay, eating is a relaxed ritual. Dress code is really non-existent in the restaurant – cool and comfortable is the recommendation. The menu changes every day and is based on local produce. Vegetarian dishes are always available.

In the evening, dinner is usually accompanied by local music, jazz or a steel band.

Guests who would prefer to eat in their rooms can do so although there is an extra charge for room service.
